Allen Eagles Navigate Tough Schedule to Start 4-0

The Allen Eagles are one of the premier high school football programs in Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and the 2026 season has continued that tradition.

Allen isn’t just a typical 4-0 team. The Eagles have built that record against some of the best teams in Texas, including a 56-35 road win against Southlake Carroll, which, as Allen head coach Lee Wiginton admits, rarely loses on its home field.

“It’s exciting any time you get to play a team like this,” Wiginton told Fanatics View after the win. “You’re talking about one of the most prestigious programs out there. They just don’t lose at this stadium. They don’t ever lose here. Over the last 25 years, they’ve lost five times. It just doesn’t happen, you know? … So it’s fun when you get into a non-district game, and you get into an environment like thta knowing every down is going to be a critically important down. Every down’s going to be a physical down. Every down’s going to be a down that has end-of-game repercussions.”

Allen has opened the season with wins over four of the top 17 teams in Texas, according to MaxPreps, taking down powers like DeSoto and Duncanville in non-district play before opening district play with a win over Prosper.

Together, those teams have played in 12 state championship games and won six titles over the last decade, and the early-season run has Allen ranked as a top-10 team nationally and the No. 1 team in Texas according to MaxPreps.

“That’s what you want in a non-district game,” Wiginton added. “That’s what you want this time of year. I’m really excited about everything about it: the opportunity to play those guys and certainly the way our guys competed.”

But for Allen, the results are only part of the equation. The Eagles’ focus has been on improving from week to week.

“That was our only goal,” Wiginton continued. “Yes, we want to win anything we do, but for us, it was a matter of getting better throughout each non-district game, and we want to be ready to play once district starts.”

Allen carried that approach into district play last week with a 51-21 win over Prosper. Now, the Eagles look to improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in District 6-6A against Princeton (2-2, 0-1) on Friday night.
