Bucs wide receiver Scotty Miller took advantage of a chance to thank Tampa Bay staff in preparation of his week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Miller racked up a solid 83 yards on 5 receptions and caught his first touchdown of the season on Sunday. He had this to say about the series where he scored that touchdown, and how he battled injuries leading up to this weeks game.

“Well, first of all, I have to give so much credit to our training staff, the TB12 staff, our strength staff. Everybody for just getting ready. I was pretty banged up all week. Really, the past few weeks. But, they did a great job getting me ready. It was just nice to to able to make a couple of plays for the team. I think that first one was my first catch of the game. I think. I was pretty tired after that one. But, [offensive coordinator] Byron [Leftwich] called a great play for me the next play. I’m very thankful for it so I [could] cap that drive off. But, it was nice to make a couple plays.”

With Chris Godwin out due to a hamstring injury, and O.J. Howard’s season likely over after an Achilles injury, the question arose concerning the amount of effort that will need to be exerted from Miller’s position in the offense.

“Yeah, it’s tough for O.J.- I don’t know exactly what happened, but [I’ll] be praying for him, obviously. And then, for me, whenever my number is called, whatever I got to do. I just got to be in the position, I got to get open and I got to make the play that comes my way. So, if my role gets expanded then that’s great. But yeah, I just keep going out there, keep doing what the coaches ask of me, and keep making plays.”

Scotty Miller gave more in-depth answers to questions like if the offensive “cold spells” may be more concerning than demonstrated and the pros and cons of being granted more cover 2 defense than anticipated. Check out the video to see how he responded!
