Mitch Marner Reacts to Leafs Losing Game 7 vs. Montreal, Not Scoring a Goal & Defends Jack Campbell
Watch as Toronto’s Mitch Marner reacts to game 7 upset in 3-1 loss to Canadiens.
Marner expressed his disappointment in losing the series after being up 3-1 against Montreal.
“We’re a team that excels with the lead, and we didn’t get the lead once going in the last couple games. Playing from behind, and our desperation was high. We made the plays to get back in games and take it to overtime but, just couldn’t get it done.
“We had multiple looks every single game”, Marner said on scoring trouble late in the series.
“I felt like in every game we had a couple grade-A chances right in front of the net that just rolled off a stick. Shot it too early, gotta have more patience with the puck.”
Marner also praised Leafs’ goalie Jack Campbell’s incredible season and reacted to Campbell blaming himself for game 7 loss.
“It’s been a lot of really talented goalies go through this league, and for him to set record, for him to come in every game and be how good he was, compete back there. It’s not easy being a goalie, especially in this market. None of the blame’s on him at all. We win as a team, we lose as a team.”
