Recap: Anaheim Ducks take series in Game 7 with 2-1 win over Oilers
The Anaheim Ducks are moving on to the Western Conference Finals.
The second game seven of the night got underway with an unassisted goal from Edmonton forward Drake Caggiula. His third of the playoffs gave the Oilers the lead just 3:31 into the game. However, that would be about all Edmonton fans had to cheer about.
Former Oiler Andrew Cogliano got the Ducks back in the game with his second period goal from Ryan Kesler and Brandon Montour. Anaheim then took over the game early in the third period as Nick Ritchie put the Ducks ahead with a goal from Sami Vatanen and Corey Perry.
After being eliminated in Game 7 in the previous four seasons the Ducks were able to overcome their demons and keep superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl off the score sheet for Edmonton.
Side note: This was Edmonton’s first playoff appearance since losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals (also a seven game series).
