Rodney Anderson on Heisman talk and Baker Mayfield
Oklahoma Sooner running back Rodney Anderson speaks on former teammate Baker Mayfield and the possibility of winning the Heisman.
When Rodney Anderson was asked to speak about the possibility of winning a Heisman this year, Anderson acknowledged that is was nice, but is more focused on team success than individual achievements.
“You know, it obliviously cool to hear talk like that, but I am more interested in what I can do for my team,” Anderson said.
In the 2016-2017 season, the running back ran for more than 1,100 yards and ran in 13 touchdowns. Not only was Anderson effective on the ground, but through the air he made his mark; Anderson had more than 280 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
One of the men that helped make the Sooners’ backfield so dangerous was Anderson’s former teammate and the 2018 NFL Draft’s number one pick, Baker Mayfield. The former Oklahoma quarterback was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and Anderson is confident that Mayfield is going to play at a high level in the NFL.
Anderson was correct to say Mayfield is “going to do him.” In former Heisman Trophy winner first preseason game, he thew for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the 20-10 win over the New York Giants. That is not too bad for a former walk-on.
