Klay Thompson credits Pacific Ocean with improved play
Klay Thompson gives credit to his shooting surge from jumping into the ocean.
In a series where the talk has been dominated by Los Angeles Clipper point guard Patrick Beverly and Golden State small forward Kevin Durant, Golden State shooting guard Klay Thompson took the lime light with his new method for improving his shooting slump: taking a dive into the ocean.
Even with a 2-1 lead on the LA Clippers, Thompson was playing his part on the defensive end, but he was not his usual self on the offensive end. Though the first three games of this postseason, Thompson averaged 13.6 points a game; he averaged 21.5 points this regular season. In the first three games of this series, he shot 33 percent from beyond the arch and in the regular season he shot 40.2 percent.
Thompson said he “didn’t think I had a bad games, but I didn’t have any big games.” Whatever the case may be, the Splash Brother didn’t play to the standard we are used to seeing.
While Thompson said he did many things to end this dry spell, the most bizarre one was at the beach while he was playing volleyball. And on an impulse he decided he to jump into the ocean.
“We went to the beach,” the shooting guard said. “Played some volleyball. I’m like ‘yo, I’m just gonna go jump in the ocean.’ I just know that will reset my mind and it worked.”
The three-time champion added that he would consider it again if his play declines again. A weird method, nonetheless, it was effective.
