Daniel Jacobs wants to prove that he is the best middleweight with a victory Canelo Alvarez.

When Daniel Jacobs took a controversial loss against Gennady Golovkin nearly two years ago, it has stayed with him since. Now as Jacobs (39-2, 25KOs) prepares to unify titles with Canelo Alvarez (51-1-2, 35KOs), he sees it as an opportunity for redemption.

“That would clear it all, I am the best middleweight in the world,” said Jacobs. “Cause I’ve always campaigned, and said that I’m the best middleweight. But I’ve also always been vocal about them taking the fight from me.”

Jacobs looks to become the middleweight king and get another shot at Golovkin. Though Golovkin has stated that he’d still want Alvarez, despite the outcome of the fight. To Jacobs, it goes on to show that Golovkin is ducking a rematch.

“It’s a compliment, cause I’ve always known in the back of my mind that ‘GGG’ (Golovkin) know he lost that fight,” said Jacobs. “I could see it in his eyes when they gave him the decision. And he hasn’t really been vocal ever about giving me the rematch. You know, it’s always been small talk; or wiping it under the rug.”
