Doc Rivers on Doncic: “You don’t stop him. You try to make him beat you in your way”

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers adamantly believes that Luka Doncic should be considered for the MVP award at the end of the season and explained just what it is that makes Doncic an exciting player.

“You don’t stop him. You try to make him beat you in your way. If he can do that, then he can do that. You just can’t allow him to just be what he wants to be or play the way he wants to play. Great players are great players for a reason. And the reason is everyone has tried everything and it doesn’t work. So, we just try to make it hard on him. As hard as we can.”

“Oh, absolutely”, replied Rivers on if Doncic should be in the MVP discussion. “He’s terrific. But there’s a lot of them. And Luka is absolutely one of them for sure. You know, it’s funny. You forget that it’s his second year. I do. You know. I heard someone say that yesterday. It feels like he’s been around a long time already, which, that’s a sign of greatness.”
