Aaron Boone Reacts to Gleyber Torres Walk-Off vs. Chicago White Sox & Jordan Montgomery Outing
Watch as Yankees manager Aaron Boone reacts to walk-off win against White-Sox.
The Yanks turned a clutch triple-play in the 9th, securing the W on Gleyber Torres’ walk-off single in 2-1 win over Chicago.
Boone recapped that 9th ining triple-play started by 3rd basemen Gio Urshela.
“Gio being as instinctive as he is, did the right thing. Quickly stepped on the bag, through a strike to Rougie [Odor], who really turned it over well to really finish off a special play, and to get us out of trouble there.”
Boone also praised Yanks starter Jordan Montgomery’s strong outing on the mound.
“It had really good fastball command and good life on that pitch. He started to incorporate the cutter in more later as the game went on. I thought the curveball was a really good pitch set up by having a really good fastball that he was striking all night. He was on the attack, he was in control. Really exciting outing by Montgomery, and obviously we needed every bit of it”, he finished.
