Jalen Hurts Reflects on His Journey from Alabama to Oklahoma Heisman Trophy Media Availability with Fanatics View

“These guys accepting me as their leader. That was earned. Nothing was given to me. We had a mutual respect for each other. They named me their captain. Just little things like that mean so much to me. I don’t go in there and try to control anything, I just go out there and be myself and try to lead by example.”

Hurts talked about wining championships was something he did not think about with Alabama.

“I didn’t go in with this idea of winning championships. I just wanted to go out and learn the lay of the land. Find my place on the team, do what was best for the team. I ended up playing as a true freshman and having the opportunity to win the national championship. You know, you just never know what life brings. It’s about what you want in your head. It’s about what you want to accomplish”

Finally the OU quarterback touched on how important it was to him to have a platform that impacted so many lives.

“I never thought I’d have this platform that I have. So many young kids, that’s what it’s all about to me. I had an opportunity to impact lives, set the right example. Play hard, work hard, for those that are watching. The kids especially.”
