Marcus Stroman Calls Pirates Player John Nogowski a “Clown” After Mets vs. Pirates Bench Clearing
Watch as Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman speaks to media following bench-clearing 5th inning against Pirates.
Stroman and Pirates’ John Nogowski got into it after an inning-ending lineout to Pete Alonso. Following the verbal altercation, a benches-clearing brawl ensued on the diamond.
“He’s just a clown, man”, Stroman told media after the game.
“Inning ended, patted my glove in emotion, just been battling all night, had no feel, rain delay. Just happy to kinda go 5 and keep it in arms reach for my team. [I] put my head down, literally looking at our dugout – you can look at the video. He starts running his mouth, saying I’m talking s***.”
Stroman discussed his celebrations, and players taking it too personally.
“Hitters get on first base and do the macarena when they get a broken-bat single at times, and I don’t say anything. It’s ridiculous – you see plenty guys showing emotion these days, especially pitchers.”
“If I have any emotions, it’s towards my dugout”, Stroman added.
