Chuck Cooperstein Explains Why Luka Doncic Medaling Would Be Most Historic Olympic Basketball Feat
Cooperstein on Doncic’s stardom: “No one should be surprised”
Fanatics View’s own Taylor Jones sits down with Dallas Mavericks radio play-by-play man (ESPN 103.3 FM) Chuck “Coop” Cooperstein for an exclusive interview as Jones and Coop touch base on various topics.
For this segment, they focus on Luka Doncic’s quick rise to stardom, Doncic and Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki both being on NBA 2K22 covers, and what the impact of the Slovenian team medaling with Doncic leading the way would be.
“There’s only one other NBA player on his team and that is Vlatko Čančar, who doesn’t play much for Denver,” says Cooperstein of Doncic and the Slovenian team.
“It would be the Danny Manning and the Miracles with Kansas times a zillion if he was able to pull that out. I do think they are going to be a big pain in the butt for whoever they have to play, just because they have a team concept.”
Coop is referring to the legendary 1987-88 Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team, who despite an 11-loss season, went on a miracle run to become NCAA champions.
“They just have a belief in themselves they’re going to be able to get things done,” says Coop of the Slovenian team.
