Carlos Correa Reacts to Houston Astros Losing World Series vs. Braves & Mixed Emotions About Future
Carlos Correa addressed the media after the Houston Astros were eliminated from the 2021 World Series. He reflected on his time spent in Houston. Carlos also addressed the elephant in the room that is his upcoming free agency.
With the game obviously out of reach, Correa stepped up to the plate in the 9th inning. The possibility of this being his last at-bat in an Astros’ uniform was the only thing going through his head. Afterward, he reflected on his career in Houston. Carlos credited Jose Altuve with teaching him everything he knows. Their relationship goes beyond the diamond as he described Altuve as “my brother for life.” Correa is proud of his time spent here and believes he did everything in his power to make them a better team.
As for the 2021 World Series, Correa praised the Braves’ pitching performance. The Astros only scored 4 total runs in the 4 games that they lost, and they failed to score a run in two of the games. Correa knows that their performance was not good enough. He went on to say: “Second place is not good enough for us.”
Correa pointed out that this off-season will be different for him. He has a huge life decision to make. Carlos is happy that he will be busy with his son and hopes he can provide a distraction. Correa has not ruled out returning to Houston, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to work out the financial implications.
No matter what uniform he dons next season, Correa will always view Houston as home. He credits the city with transforming him from a boy to a man.
