Adrian Beltre gets Last Laugh as Rangers Beat the Mariners 11-4
Adrian Beltre and Felix Hernandez’s frenemy relationship goes way back but Beltre may get the last laugh.
Close friends Adrian Beltre and Felix Hernadez go way back. From being teammates in Seattle years ago to facing off hundreds of times as opponents. Both players have had general success against each other over the years which fuels the rivalry even more. As you can see, each time the one bests the other, there is a huge reaction. Whether it is laughter or a cold shoulder, the players know it is all in good fun.
In Beltre’s first at-bat, he falls behind 0-2. Felix is known for his devastating curveball and uses it often in this count. He fouls the first curveball he sees off and laughs. In this at-bat, however, King Felix gets the last laugh. Hernadez’s next pitch is a hanging curveball that fools Beltre into a half swing half plea for help. As Beltre walks back to the dugout after the strikeout, Felix Hernadez puts both hands on his knees and fills the stadium with a hardy laugh. If it wasn’t for the history between these two players, then this kind of reaction could create problems. You don’t see things like that every day and that is what makes these two players so fun to watch.
In Beltre’s last at-bat of the day against Felix, the results are a little bit different. On a first pitch, you guessed it, curveball, Beltre blasts it to deep center field. Let’s remember back real quick to how Felix reacted after the strikeout. Hardy laugh and pointing to show up Adrian’s failure. The ball leaves the park over the center field wall as King Felix gives up his 11th run of the game. All the while, Adrian Beltre puts his head down and jogs around the bases like it is no big deal. Surprising everyone in the stadium and at home watching. Whether you are a Ranger fan or not, it is impossible not to love Adrian Beltre. Just don’t touch his head… don’t ask.
