Luke Voit Reacts to Yankees Trading for Anthony Rizzo, Returning & Being Mentioned in Trade Talks
Watch as Luke Voit reacts to his first game back after the Yankees acquired Anthony Rizzo.
On Sunday the Yankees were hit with yet another positive covid test, sending newly acquired Anthony Rizzo to the IL. After a strong start for Rizzo, Luke Voit was activated and played his first game back in a 2-0 loss against the Mariners.
“It’s probably the best I’ve felt in a long time,” Voit said on his first Yanks start since July 11th. “I’m glad to be back with the guys, it’s been a really weird year for me. Excited for this playoff push.”
“I’ve had like 100 off days this year, so I’m good”, says Voit on his ability to play every game.
Voit spoke on trade rumors and Yanks acquiring slugger Anthony Rizzo from Chicago.
“It was a weird spot, obviously glad he’s a part of the team. I get it, I haven’t been around a lot this year. I guess I was in the trade talks too, and you never know what can happen there.”
“I guess it was a little frustrating,” Voit added on Yanks trading for Rizzo.
In addition, Voit responded to injury difficulties and the chance to play after Rizzo’s positive test.
“Obviously I know I show my emotions when I play, but I don’t let stuff bother me too much. It’s just something I got blessed with I guess from my family. I can always move on to the next day and flush it.”
