Red Sox take home field advantage to the next level in game 2 win on Sunday.

The 108 win Red Sox found themselves in a must-win game earlier than they would like in the ALCS. After losing Chris Sales start in Game 1, the Red Sox needed David Price to step it up. Price, in the playoffs, has yet to “step it up.” Over the course of Price’s career with the Rays, Tigers, Blue Jays, and Red Sox, he is 0-10 and his team has never won a game where he starts. For a man making ace money, you’d expect him to be better in the playoffs. Winning one game would be nice. On Sunday, Price did not pitch his best game but his offense finally had his back.

After letting the Astros jump to a 4-2 lead following a Marwin Gonzolaz homer, the Sox looked to be starring up the barrel. Garret Cole is one of the top pitchers in the AL in 2018 and hunger to win at Fenway. However, in the 3rd inning, the luck of the Irish found its way to Boston. With the bases loaded, Jackie Bradley Jr. comes to plate still down 4-2. To this point, Cole has walked a couple and made a throwing error so maybe the pressure has gotten to him. Jackie Bradley Jr. ended up slapping a fly ball deep off the Monster in the left-field corner. After hitting the wall, the ball actually rolls on top of some padding over the head of Gonzalas in foul territory. The extra time allows all three runs to score and the Red Sox to take the lead. Astros manager AJ Hinch came out to get an explanation as to why that was not a ground rule. Apparently, Hinch did not get the memo that at Fenway Park, anything goes.

The Red Sox are able to hold on to their lead and tie the ALCS at one apiece. The series goes back to Houston for a pivotal game three. Will the defending champs defend their home or will the Sox spoil the magic in H-Town?
