Rougned Odor puts the Rangers on his back behind his two home run game.

Rougned Odor is one of the most controversial players in baseball. We all remember when he slugged Jose Bautista in the jaw causing one of the best brawls in Rangers history. His performance on the field, however, has been much more like a roller coaster than a boxing match. Two times in his career Odor has been sent down to the minor leagues due to poor performance at the plate. Both times it has worked in his favor and Rougie has become a solid second baseman for the Rangers.

This season has been no different. Through May, Odor has been one of the worst players in all of Major League Baseball. He struck out at an alarming rate and could not adjust to beat the shift. In May, however, Odor hit the disabled list with leg problems and was out for a while. Since his return to the lineup, Rougned is a new ballplayer. He is stealing bases, playing good defenses and hitting out of his mind. He has raised his abysmal batting average almost 100 points and his hitting for power.

In one of the odder turn of events, the Texas Rangers swept the Houston Astros at home this weekend. Rouged Odor is a huge part of why that happened. His first home run of the game shown is one of the most exciting plays in all of baseball. The inside-the-park-home-run. Even with his home run trot, Odor was still able to make his way all the way around the bases. His next home run was the dagger in the heart of the Astros in the seventh inning. He finished the game going 5-5 and only the third player in history to have a multi-home run game including an inside-the-park-home-run. The Rangers would go on to sweep the Astros and make the AL West race a little tighter than a lot of people expected.
