Popovich on Luka Doncic: “He’s a spectacular player. He’s one of the best players in the world”

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has been in the game a very long time. He’s coached some of the greatest players in the history of the NBA and has always been a man of very few words.

So when asked about Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, Pop didn’t hesitate to call him one of the best players in the world, and he didn’t stop there.

“He’s a spectacular player,” begins Popovich. “He’s one of the best players in the world. And I emphasize the world. He showed himself early on in Europe and he was a fast study in the NBA for sure.”

“He’s fun to watch,” continued Popovich. “His skills. His competitiveness. His size. His innate basketball IQ is so impressive. You put four hard-working people around him, you’ve got a hell of a team.”

“Nobody wants to win more than Luka,” added Popovich in regards to Slovenia’s Olympic berth.
