Joel Embiid goes off on Andre Drummond and Pistons
In another round of the heated rivalry between Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond, it was Embiid who once again came out on top. In Saturday’s game, Embiid scored 39 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the 76ers win.
Every time the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons match up, all eyes are on Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond. The two big men have been going at it on and off the court for years now. If the rivalry hadn’t already been obviously in Embiid’s favor, it was after Saturday.
By halftime of Saturday’s game, Embiid had already won the battle. Embiid put up 32 points, and he grabbed eight rebounds. It was the most points Embiid has scored in one half his entire career. On the other hand, Drummond went scoreless and only played four minutes as he was benched for poor play all around and foul trouble in the first half. In the second half, things didn’t get much better for Drummond. He only ended up with eight total points and nine rebounds, while Embiid finished with 39 points on 10-of-18 from the field and he grabbed 17 rebounds. Also, Embiid’s performance was enough to push the 76ers past the Pistons, 109-99.
To make matters worse, Embiid gloated over his performance against Drummond on social media after the game. On Instagram and Twitter, Embiid posted a series of pictures of him and Drummond with the caption saying, “I own a lot of real estate in Andre Drummond’s head, and I’m on my way to build more. #Bum #TheProcess” However, this isn’t the first time Embiid has taken jabs at Drummond, though. The two have had their fair share of words and antics against each other their throughout their careers. Embiid first started claiming he owned real estate in Drummond’s head on Oct. 23, when the Pistons beat the 76ers, 133-132 in overtime. Although it was the Pistons that came out victorious, it was Embiid who won the battle. Embiid got a near triple-double, and he got Drummond thrown out of the game for receiving two technical fouls.
