The grit and grind Memphis Grizzlies handed the Golden State Warriors their second loss of the young season. The 111-101 loss marked the first time the Warriors have had a losing record since their opening day loss to the San Antonio Spurs last season.

The Warriors turned over the ball an uncharacteristically high 17 times on the night as their frustration grew throughout the game. The irritation reached it’s boiling point in the closing moments of the game when Steph Curry finished a layup in traffic and blew up in exasperation at what he thought deserved to be an and one.

Clearly irate and unhappy with the no call, he removed his mouthguard and sent it flying towards the baseline referee who promptly ejected him from the game. In a more questionable decision by the refs, Durant was also tossed from the game and sent to the visiting locker room for a premature shower.

Memphis lost integral veterans Vince Carter and Zach Randolph to the Sacramento Kings this offseason and failed to replace the pair with any significant signings. Despite the losses, Memphis remains undefeated through two games against the defending champs and the New Orleans Pelicans.

On the shoulders of Marc Gasol and the surprise production from unsuspecting second round selection Dillon Brooks, the Grizzlies have already gotten out to an overachieving start. Though they can’t expect 34 point outings from their Spanish center every night, with consistent contributions from the underrated Mike Conley and crew, the Grizzlies could become the cinderella story of the NBA this season.
