Stephen Curry addressed the media off the heels of his Warriors’ 126-85 blowout win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He spoke about the Warriors’ hot start to the season and where they must go from there.

When asked about the Warriors’ 7-1 record to start the season, Steph had this to say: “We’re obviously a much better team than we’ve been the last two years.” A huge catalyst in the Warriors’ early season success is their ball movement. The Warriors lead the league in assists per game as a team. Steph credits this to staying under control and making sound decisions.

Although Steph is proud of what his squad has accomplished, he understands it is early in the season. Does the Warriors’ fast start surprise Curry? “No, cause we’ve got guys who just understand basketball.” Jordan Poole has filled in nicely as Steph’s splash brother. They will form a deadly shooting trio with Klay Thompson when he returns.

Defensive success was also brought up. Curry shouted out Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, and Kevon Looney for holding down that end of the floor. He was also excited at the prospect of James Wiseman returning. Curry believes Wiseman can provide a strong defensive presence. He just needs to get consistent reps and stay on the court to take the next step in his development.

The reporters then changed the subject to baseball. Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants retired just days before. Steph found it cool that a player like that got to ride off into the sunset on his own terms. He admired Posey’s class and representation of one franchise for his entire career.

With plenty of games left, Curry is focused on returning the Warriors to their former glory. Steph is proud of their start, but he knows they have a long way to go.
