CJ Conrad at SEC Media Days
Kentucky is one of the most underrated football programs in the SEC. The Wildcats could be in contention for the top spots each year, but it’s one or two important games they can’t close out that hold them back. One game that could make the difference for the Wildcats is their matchup against Florida.
CJ Conrad, tight end for Kentucky, spoke a lot about the importance of this game at the 2018 SEC Media Days.
The Wildcats play Florida Week 2, and that could change the momentum for the whole season. A win against the Gators could help this program take that next step to be great according to Conrad. Florida has beaten Kentucky 31 years in a row, the longest active winning streak in the nation. Kentucky came so close to beating Florida last season, but couldn’t close it out. The Wildcats believe this could be their year to end the streak.
Even if the Wildcats can’t pull out a win in week 2, their program is still moving in the right direction. From 2011-2015, Kentucky was towards the bottom of the SEC East and never made it to a bowl game. In the past two season, Kentucky has been tied for 2nd and 3rd in the West and has made it to a bowl game each season. The Wildcats are trying to show they have what it takes, and a win against Florida could push this team in the right direction.
