Deontay Wilder talks about the excitement building up for his first PPV view fight and why Tyson Fury makes the best opponent.

Deontay Wilder (40-0,39 KOs) will headline his first pay-per-view card when he defends his heavyweight title against Tyson Fury (27-0,19 KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Dec 1st. Wilder feels that he couldn’t ask for a better opponent when it comes to selling his first pay-per-view fight.

“It’s refreshing to me,” said Wilder. “Because I get to sit back, (and) enjoy myself. All my fights, I’ve had to promote myself. Cause these guys be so nervous and hesitant to talk, they don’t wanna over talk. But with Fury, it’s exciting; it’s interesting. And I want no other person to start my pay-per-view off. If I had to do it with someone, he’s the perfect one for me. Because he can talk, he can sell.”

Fury has in fact been interesting when speaking to the media in interviews and press conferences ahead of the fight. It’s been clear that he has the intention of getting to Wilder’s head. He’s also been able to draw laughter with his charisma and sense of humor. It has made for an entertaining show leading up to the fight.

“When it’s pay-per-view, you need someone to promote with you,” said Wilder. “Not just by yourself. I don’t think if it was anyone else, that this pay-per-view probably won’t be doing like it’s doing now. You know what I’m saying? With the excitement that’s building up and even when we’re gonna fight, it’s gonna be crazy.”
