Deontay Wilder warns Dominic Breazeale: ‘You better be more than ready.’
Deontay Wilder promised to give Dominic Breazeale the challenge that he asked for.
Deontay Wilder was boiling with bad blood as he faced off with Dominic Breazeale ahead of their May 18 fight. “The Bronze Bomber” went off and attacked Breazeale verbally for over a minute, while Breazeale watched on and listened in silence.
“You better be more than ready Dominic, you better be more than ready sir,” said Wilder, then removed his sunglasses; and spoke with a stronger tone. “Listen to me again, you better be more than ready for me. I feel you right now, I can feel your heartbeat: boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And it should be that way, because you ain’t never seen death in his face.”
Wilder, (40-0-1, 39KOs) will make the ninth defense of his WBC title against mandatory challenger Breazeale (20-1, 18KOs) at the Barclays Center in New York. After calling out Wilder for the past two years, the wait is now over for Breazeale as he’ll finally get his shot. Though Wilder assures him that it won’t be pleasant by any means.
“You goin feel every bit of me, I promise you that,” said Wilder. “This is not a game. This is where you’ve been introduced to the heavyweight division Dominic, and it start with me. And I’ma prove it to you, I swear. I promise you that.”
Wilder and Breazeale have held bad blood towards each other after they got into a brawl, along with Wilder’s brother, Marsellos; nearly two years ago in a hotel lobby. As they turned to face the media for photos, Wilder and Breazeale exchanged words. “You wanted it, you got it!” Wilder told Breazeale.
Breazeale has turned to 2011 BWAA Trainer of the Year Virgil Hunter in preparation for Wilder. Hunter is best known for training former unified super middleweight and light heavyweight champion, Andre Ward. Even after Breazeale had left the stage, Wilder was still fired up and not done going off on him.
“You can get four trainers like (Tyson) Fury did, it ain’t goin help you!” said Wilder. “It’s not gonna help you. You can train for me half a year like Fury did! You can get two warms up, and three training camps; and still see what happen! I’m special bro, I’m just special like that. I know what position I own, what I place. I know who I am, and what I stand for. What I represent. TILL THIS DAY!”
