Jermall Charlo talks about Willie Monroe Jr.’s failed drug test, and potential fights against the top middleweights.

WBC interim middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (27-0, 21KOs) was set to defend his title against Willie Monroe Jr. (23-3, 6KOs) at the Barclays Center in New York. Monroe, however, failed a drug test conducted by the VADA; and was removed from the fight.

“I advise any young fighter, that if you want to get in shape; you do it the real way,” said Charlo. “Some fighters can claim ‘all natural,’ but they unprofessional. They all unprofessional.”

Charlo was disappointed with Monroe’s failed drug test, and looked forward to fighting him in his hometown of New York.

“Im in somebody else backyard right now, you know?” said Charlo. “This should have been his backyard. How could he (Monroe) let his family down? Come on man, I would never do that to my fans in Houston. But look, it is what it is. We moving ahead.”

Matt Korobov (28-1, 14KOs) will replace Monroe as Charlo’s opponent. Charlo is ready to fight and has big visions in the middleweight division.

“I’m here to take over the world at 160,” said Charlo. “160 is Jermall Charlo. I’m 160, Mr. 160.”

The top fighters at middleweight include unified champion Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin, and Daniel Jacobs. Charlo hopes to fight either one in 2019 and showcase his skills against the best.

“I wanna fight,” said Charlo. “I already told you I wanna fight. I don’t care what the situation is. I don’t care what happens. I wanna fight, I wanna see how talented I am against whoever out there.”

Charlos is willing to do whatever it takes to land the big fights at middleweight, and also make the B-side concessions for those fights.

“You know I would,” said Charlo. “You know I don’t give a s–t about a,b, or c, or d. They could put me under the ring, and I’ll come up out that m—-f—-r.”
