Kristaps Porzingis: “I’m extremely excited to be back. I feel great.”

Mavericks superstar forward Kristaps Porzingis has returned to the states from his home back in Latvia and says he is ready to play the game that he loves. Since the NBA was temporarily suspended back in March due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Porzingis has stayed in shape. Knowing that there may be a possibility to play again and finish the season, he was sure that he would play.

“That was not really on my mind,” says Porzingis about opting out. “I knew if we had the opportunity to play, and the NBA was able to put it all together where it was safe for everybody, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to play and help the team.”

Porzingis and fellow Mavericks star Luka Doncic were developing their on-court chemistry in their first season as teammates. Doncic shined during his rookie season while Porzingis sat out recovering from an ACL injury. As the season returns, Porzingis has no concerns about picking up where they left off after a good start.

“I don’t think it’s going to be that tough,” mentions Porzingis about the duo’s chemistry. “We’ve been working out with Luka since we’ve been back. I think, for us, once we got to know each other a little bit more on the court, it was only a matter of time for us to get that chemistry going. I don’t think we are going to take a step back.”

As far as what shows or movies he caught up on during the quarantine, Porzingis was amused by the popular Netflix documentary “Tiger King”.

“It was the most insane series I’ve ever seen. Every time I thought that it was already too much, something crazier happened. So, that was one of my favorite series to watch.”
