The last time BYU beat a Top-10 opponent on the road was in 1984 against No. 3 Penn. In one of the biggest upsets of Week 3, BYU upsets No. 6 Wisconsin in Madison.

It was just one of those games for Wisconsin on Saturday. The Badgers couldn’t get into a solid rhythm. Their star quarterback Alex Hornibrook wasn’t quite on point and their running game couldn’t break much ground.

Wisconsin had no trouble getting down the field, but couldn’t finish out each time. All of Wisconsin’s three touchdowns were low yardage runs into the end zone.  BYU surprised many people though by showing off their versatility and speed. BYU running back Squally Canada had quite the game. He ran for 118, averaging 10.8 yards per carry, with two touchdowns. He was able to make the big plays at the right times. The Cougars also tried showed off with some memorable plays. In BYU’s second drive of the second quarter, quarterback Tanner Mangum pitched the ball to wide receiver Aleva Hifo, who completed a beautiful 31 yard pass to Moroni Laulu-Pututau, who was wide open in the end zone. They made it look too easy.  The entire BYU offensive and defensive lines made a big impact on the game too.

This game kept all Wisconsin fans on the edge of their seat though. It was a back and forth battle for the lead the whole game, with the winner being decided in the last few seconds. Wisconsin missed a 42-yard field goal with 0:36 left to lose the game.

Last season, Wisconsin had a chance of winning the Big 10 and possibly a chance at the College Football Playoffs.  Those hopes were back again before this season, but could be gone now.
