Former NFL linebacker James Harrison speaks on Steelers current climate, being a Patriot and social media.

James Harrison, a former linebacker for the Steelers and Patriots, spoke with us about a lot of the discord that seems to be brewing from the Steelers’ locker room and the power of social media.

Harrison went undrafted in 2002 and eventually winded up playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The linebacker played 14 seasons with the historic franchise and win a Super Bowl with the Steelers. Playing for more than a decade with the franchise, Harrison is one of the players who would understand how Pittsburgh operates.

The retired linebacker also played under the same coach, Mike Tomlin. With this knowledge, we know that the Steelers have seen two of their star players, Le’Von Bell and Antonio Brown, voice the dislike for their current  situations whether verbally or through their actions.

Harrison said it comes from top down for the current situation the Pittsburgh Steelers are in. He also alluded to people, head coach Tomlin, not being a man of his word. This, in turn, can also lead to affecting the culture of the locker room and the front office, which could have possibly been the reason there has been so much drama with the Steelers this season.

Harrison pointed out that social media is a double-edged sword. It allows athletes to have their own platform and interact with their fans within a matter of seconds, but can also work to their detriment if they say or post things that are not beneficial to their image. It also has and extreme affect on kids, so much so that Harrison does not allow his kids to have social media accounts until he thinks they are ready.
