Mike Scott joins Fanatics View to talk boxing, and the fights that he feels need to be made.

Philadelphia Sixers power forward Mike Scott anticipates the potential boxing matches that could be made later this year. One of those fights would be unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (22-0, 21KOs) against WBC champion Deontay Wilder (40-0-1, 39KOs).

“They have to fight man, that’s bigger than Wilder vs. Fury,” said Scott. “That’s what everyone wants to see of course.”

First Joshua must take care of business with Jarrell Miller in June, while Wilder will take on Dominic Breazeale in May. Though Scott doesn’t think you can rule out Miller against Joshua, as he tells Fanatics View “I don’t know man, I’m just not jumping on the gate saying Joshua is gonna win that fight.”

Scott likes what he saw from IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence’s (25-0, 21KOs) recent performance against Mikey Garcia. While Spence has been vocal about squaring off with the legendary Manny Pacquiao, Scott believes that the better challenge would be against WBO champion Terence Crawford (34-0, 25KOs).

“Pacquiao’s a legend, he’s great,” said Scott. “In his last fight, it didn’t look like he was 40 years old. It didn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon, but I think the more exciting fight is Crawford.”

Though Pacquiao has proven that he still has some fight left in him even at age 40, it’s fair to say that his prime days are over. Spence can’t go wrong for wanting to face a future Hall of Famer, and boxing’s only eight-division champion in Pacquiao; but Crawford would be the fight to make.

Crawford is only 31, and recognized as one of the top 10 pound-for-pound fighters. Like Spence, he is also in the prime of his career, and after the big names at welterweight to prove he’s the best. Crawford also brings a similar approach to the ring as Spence, with technique, hand speed, punching power, and defensive skills.
