Dallas rookie of the year candidate Luka Doncic reflects on his rookie campaign and talks about wanting to everything possible next season to make the postseason.

Dirk Nowitzki recently let the entire world know that the 2018-2019 season was indeed his last.  Doncic stated that when talking about the last couple days, saying it has been very emotional for not just him, but everyone in the organization, Dirk, and Doncic said it would be a couple of days he will never forget.

Dirk has embraced the city of Dallas over the last 21 years and Dallas has returned the favor over the years. Luka Doncic was asked if he could see himself in that same situation throughout his career, in which he said he hopes so. The Mavericks fans have embraced Doncic since the first preseason game against Beijing. “The Mavericks fans have been great to me” Doncic said.

Doncic has not been on the losing end most of his life and this year wasn’t a season that the Mavericks would have liked but Doncic said he is aware that they are building something special and the need to be patient with the addition of Kristap Porzingis, who will return from a torn ACL injury.
