Dallas Mavericks General Manager Donnie Nelson addresses the media for the final time this season.

Nelson shared with the press that he was not aware that Dirk would be retiring until he announced after the last home game in Dallas against the Phoenix Suns. In fact, Nelson was leaving the door open for Dirk to come back next season before Dirk made the official announcement.  As for Tim Hardaway Jr., things are on schedule, and he will be ready for training camp next season.

Nelson thinks Luka Doncic and Kristap Porzingis could form a lethal one-two punch similar to Dirk and Nash during the early 2000s, that hopefully Maverick fans can enjoy for 22 years.

Nelson Acknowledge that Luka had an excellent rookie campaign but he would like to see Luka focus on his defense over the summer heading into the next season and stepping into a leadership role with Dirk being gone. In addition, Nelson talks about wanting to bring Dwight Powell back along with other free agents like Devon Harris, and JJ Barea.
