Gerrit Cole calls Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers Series a “Heavyweight Slugfest”
Gerrit Cole spoke to Fanatics View after 8-9 loss against the Rangers.
The two teams hit a combined 9 homers, with Rangers Danny Santana’s 9th inning blast being the finishing blow.
“It’s like a heavyweight slugfest”, he told Fanatics View. “Both teams competed really hard tonight – we came up short, but it was quite an entertaining game. Obviously we want to win, we battled our butts off all game and responded well to the adversity”, he finished.
In addition, Cole was asked about his outing against Texas, allowing 4 runs and 3 homers through 6 innings of work.
“I threw a lot of good pitches tonight”, he told Fanatics View. “Choo, leading off the game – I just didn’t get that fastball up enough. The curveball to Gallo was a bad pitch, made some tough pitches to Guzman, and didn’t get the fastball down against Andrus. I just got really punished for a handful of bad pitches, you have to respond to those things and continue to dredge forward”.
