Kristaps Porzingis on team success: “I didn’t expect us to be winning this many games”

Dallas Mavericks superstars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis spoke with reporters after their 130-84 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Doncic on the win: “It was just important that we got a win. So, that’s all that matters for me. It was a great win for us.”

The Mavericks are currently 2nd in the Western Conference, but Doncic isn’t ready to get comfortable.

“I mean it’s great. But, I wish it was at the end. So, it’s only the start of the season. We gotta keep grinding.”

Porzingis spoke with reporters shortly after.

“I think we’re getting more comfortable with each other out there on the defensive end. I think guys are getting used to playing with me where they know if somebody drives, then I’m around the rim somewhere and I can protect the rim and they don’t have to foul in a lot of situations. I think it’s just us holding each other accountable on the defensive end also.”

“I didn’t expect us to be winning this many games,” continued Porzingis. “But the season is long. The season is long. We’re in a good stretch now. Maybe the schedule is kind of going our way a little bit early on in the season. But I think our confidence is growing.”
