Gabe Kapler Reacts to the Controversial Dodgers/Giants NLDS Series
Kapler on Check-Swing Call: “It was tough”
The San Francisco Giants will not advance to the NLCS as they lost 2-1 in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The rivalry created a drama-packed series, even up to the final batter as the last out was called a strikeout on a very controversial check-swing. Manager of the Giants, Gabe Kapler, sat down to discuss his reaction to the series and the last call.
“Super tough. I mean, obviously, you don’t want a game to end that way. I know these guys work really hard to make the right call, so it’s super challenging on our end. Obviously, it’s going to be frustrating to have a game end like that,” said Kapler when reacting to the final check-swing call.
Despite their post-season exit, the Giants finished in 1st place throughout the entire MLB this season at a record of 107-55.
“The unselfishness that this team showed throughout the year, the trust they showed in one another was second to none. Better than any other season I have been a part of as a player, as a coach, in any position in baseball, and I just respect the hell out of a team-first mentality.”
