Watch as former Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta reacts to Cubs’ big trade moves.

After building a legacy that led to a World Series win in 2016, Chicago’s all-star core will now have new homes. Following the trade deadline, the Cubs have parted ways with Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Javy Baez, Jake Arrieta, and more.

“It’s tough to see something like this come to an end,” Arrieta told the media. “Very happy for them to be able to go teams and have an opportunity to do something really special with a new group of guys.”

Arrieta spoke on the mark left by Rizzo and the core of the 2016 Cubs championship roster.

“He is what the Chicago Cubs resemble,” Arrieta said on fan-favorite Anthony Rizzo. “I don’t think that will ever change. He’ll be a part of Cubs history for eternity. Just speaks volumes for the type of guy he is, player, leader, special player. The same sentiment can be said for guys like Javy, KB, it’s tough to see them go.”

Arrieta also hinted at a possible homecoming for Chicago’s former stars.

“You might see one or multiple of those guys in the uniform again after the season. That would be pretty exciting. We all know how much Chicago means to them, and how much they mean to the city”.
