Joey Gallo on Playing as Himself in MLB The Show & Talks His Favorite MLB Players Growing Up
In an interview with Fanatics View, Rangers slugger Joey Gallo talks gaming and MLB legend Derek Jeter.
According to Gallo, MLB The Show and Fortnite are popular among the team in their off-the-field entertainment.
“I game a little bit”, the slugger told Fanatics View. “It’s addicting man, we go on the road, we bring our Playstations, we set it up in the hotels, kill their WiFi and game out”.
In addition, Gallo talked MLB The Show, a popular baseball video game, and discussed playing as himself in the game.
“I don’t like playing as myself”, Gallo told Fanatics View. “Every once in a while when i play as the Rangers I’ll play with myself – It was crazy, seeing me in the video game. I’ve been playing baseball video games since i was 4 years old, and I was obsessed with those players when i was playing with them. For me to be on that game, it was crazy to me, pretty awesome”, he finished.
Gallo also spoke to Fanatics View about Derek Jeter, who influenced the slugger growing up.
“He was my favorite player growing up – I idolized him. I read his books, every move he made I was on top of it. My family was huge New York Yankee fans, and every report I did in school was about him. I loved watching him play the game, how he handled himself in the media, the respect everyone had for him. It wasn’t necessarily just his play on the field”, Gallo finished.
