Watch as manager Chris Woodward reacts to Joe Musgrove no-hitter against Rangers.

Although studying Musgrove before the game, Woodward made it clear his concerns were met as the Rangers were dominated on offense.

“I watched every pitch he threw in his last outing, and I was a little concerned just because of the sharpness of the stuff. And frankly, the way he was commanding the baseball.”

Woodward did give credit to Musgrove, throwing the first no-hitter in Padres history.

“We weren’t even able to get a swing off on some of his pitches. Just shows you how good he is. Clearly, we ran into a buzzsaw today. First time in their history, so hats off to him”, he finished.

“On the pitching side we did really well”, Woodward said on positives from the no-hit loss.                   “We gotta come back and regroup and have quality at-bats from pitch 1 tomorrow.”
