Coach Rick Carlisle’s Review Of Mavs Season Opener Victory Against Washington
The last time the Dallas Mavericks won their first home opener of the season was in 2013 with a different shooting tandem by the names of Dirk Nowitzki and newly acquired Monta Ellis.
Six years later, Rick Carlisle exhibited a squad with many young faces and a new dynamic duo to write home about it: Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The victory proved valuable for Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle since it was packed full of results in the negative and in the positive. After the game, Coach Carlisle was asked about how he thought his youthful Mavericks team played against a “rebuilding” Washington Wizards roster. He also pointed out certain future evaluations that will be made with hopes of emphasizing the rights, and correcting the wrongs. “We’ve obviously got some things to… to continue to work to clean up. Turnovers were high. Rebounding is gonna be a challenge. Even when Powell gets back it’s gonna be a challenge for us.” He stated while referring to resident big man Dwight Powell who is currently on the mend from a hamstring injury suffered during an Oct. 5th practice.
