DeMarcus Cousins Talks In-Depth on Decision Day
SHOWTIME Sports goes into detail with DeMarcus Cousins process of joining the Warriors.
Free agent center DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the reigning NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors, during free agency.
There was lot of speculation as to why such a dominate talent was acquired for such a low price and to a team that has been dominating the NBA for the last four years. In this video, the questions that are plaguing every fans’ mind is answered from the perspective of Cousins.
Because of the pure lack of offers from teams, the center said he was up for two days straight before signing to the Warriors. Before he signed to Golden State, he called multiple teams, including the New Orleans Pelicans, and they all declined to take the four-time all-star.
“We reached out to teams,” Cousins said. “Pelicans, there was no offer. I understand. A big year and you don’t want to ruin it taking a chance on a damaged player. Cool.”
“We reached out to some other teams. We got answers like we don’t believe it’s a good fit, or we gotta see what we’re doing with out rosters right now. Just kind of bulls – – t answers. And then there were some that were just flat-out, we can’t take that risk.”
Cousins calls his move to the Warriors “my ace of spades…my last resort.”
Boogie remains unapologetic or fazed by others’ opinions of him and his move to Golden State.
“I could have probably got a decent contract from a bad team,” Cousins said. “But how does that help me? I’m already fighting a career-ending injury. I knew how it would be perceived from some. I don’t give a f- -k… I didn’t give a f- -k. I knew what my ace was.”
