The Golden State Warriors reminded the NBA why they’re the defending champions this Sunday as they shellacked the Minnesota Timberwolves in Shanghai 142-110 as part of their NBA China series.

Steph Curry led all scorers with 40 points in 30 minutes and even chipped in six rebounds and eight  assists to put a cherry on top of his dominant performance.

The two-time MVP wasn’t the only member of the Warriors who had his way with the T-wolves porous defense. Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson lit up Minnesota alongside their teammate for a jaw dropping 101 of Golden State’s 142 total points.

While the young Wolves squad was blown out of the water this weekend, sorry defensive efforts won’t be tolerated by a team coached by the defensive stickler that is Tom Thibodeau.

With the offseason acquisition of veteran, Allstar and proven leader Jimmy Butler, poor spacing, atrocious team defense and miserable communication should become things of the past. Minnesota’s roster is oozing with talent and Butler should give the young guns the direction they need.

Golden State took this round in convincing fashion, but Minnesota will get a chance on November 8 to show an painless win like this won’t be so easy to come by the next time around. Their early season matchup will be one to watch as the unproven Timberwolves look to show their worth.
