Doc Rivers on Doncic: “He’s probably as physical as anybody you’re going to see”

Doc Rivers spoke with reporters after the team’s 114-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

“They were incredible,” said Rivers of his team’s aggressiveness on defense. “They were just very active. You know, it helps when you have so many different guys. You got Pat (Beverley) starting out. You got Kawhi. You got Paul George. You got JaMychal (Green) and Trez (Montrezl Harrell). Rodney McGruder. We have a lot of guys that want to defend. And you could see that tonight. The whole team. Zub (Ivica Zubac) at the rim tonight. I thought everyone was really locked in defensively.”

On defending Luka Doncic, Rivers didn’t have a set plan and the team didn’t do anything different.

“We played our defense. We trap some with the five. We switched a lot. The difference is when we switch, you know, they set a pick in the switch and instead of Pat guarding him, it’s Kawhi. Instead of Kawhi guarding him, it’s Paul George. We had a lot of guys that could switch, and I thought that was effective.”
