Kenny Smith was in Dallas being honored the 30th annual PwC SMU Athletic Forum at the Hilton Anatole. Kenny answered numerous questions from the media about Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis Michael Jordan, Dean Smith, and Carmelo Anthony.
Here is what he had to says about Carmelo Anthony, “The league is a very copycat league and a very perception oriented league. I remember when foreign players were coming into the NBA. There was a big prejudice against foreign players just because of perception. Oh, they can’t play here, and we look at last year. International players won most of the awards predominately. So, there has always been that type of prejudice thought about perception. Now, Melo fits that perception that he can’t play in the league, which is not true.There were 75 to 100 guys when they got signed I said, why didn’t you sign Melo there a lot of good teams that could play for and help. I would say he has two to three years left in his arsenal, but their expectation is for him to take them over the hump to put them in a championship position. That perception is either right or wrong, but what I always hear is will he accept. You play you have to accept you don’t have a choice. If a coach plays you, he plays, and if he doesn’t, he doesn’t. I don’t even know what that means can someone accept something. It’s like can a coach sit him yeah, it’s his job to be a coach,” Smith told Fanatics View
