Dakota Allen Speaks on “Last Chance U” Being His Last Chance
Linebacker Dakota Allen says “Last Chance U” was his last chance.
Dakota Allen, a former linebacker for East Mississippi Community College (EMCC), is depicted in a documentary about highly recruited football players who are given one last chance to clean up their act and hopefully land back at a Division I school.
Allen was a part of the Netflix show, “Last Chance U”, during season two. The Red Raider said he truly saw this as his last chance.
“I remember before I went to Mississippi my dad told me ‘this is it,’ so I did view it as my last chance,” Allen said.
Allen was one of the few players that were dismissed from the team after a they were arrested for the burglary of a Southwest Lubbock home after his freshman year. EMCC was one of the only few colleges that were willing to accept Allen.
After playing in Scooba, Mississippi for a season, Allen joined back with Texas Tech and is coming back for his senior year. Allen called his story a redemption story and says he owes it to the Red Raiders.
“I say the biggest factor is me finishing what I started and me just– them giving me a second chance it’s unbelievable and I owe them everything for that,” Allen said.
