Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn spoke to the media after the LA Chargers joint practice with New Orleans.

Lynn was asked for an update on Melvin Gordon and his status while continuing to withhold from training camp. “I haven’t spoken with Melvin in a while, so no”, he told reporters.

In addition, Lynn was asked whether Gordon was putting in work during his absence. “No question”, he said. “He’s a pro and when he reports I’m sure he’ll be ready”. Lynn also spoke on the drawbacks of not having Gordon and his expectations for his return. “There’s always drawbacks when you’re not here practicing with you teammates and getting better every day. I expect him to walk back in and pick up right where he left off”, he finished.

Finally, Lynn spoke on Gordon’s contract situation and his thoughts on his training camp hold out. “It’s hard for me to appreciate his decision because I want him here. When I was in his shoes I could appreciate it, but I understand it. It’s business, and it will work itself out.”
