Chargers Cornerback Casey Hayward spoke to the media after the LA Chargers joint practice with New Orleans.

Hayward spoke on the confidence of the Chargers team going into the 2019 season.

“We want to lead the NFL in turnovers, we can lead the NFL in turnovers, we will have a good defense. That’s what it’s all about, getting the ball and gaining confidence. We’ve got a lot of young guys doing a lot of good things for us, and hopefully we can continue that”, he finished.

In addition, Hayward was asked on playing against Drew Brees and the Saints.

“Going against Drew and some of the weapons they have, anytime we can have a good day against those guys, we look forward to it. They got some really good talent over there. Anytime you can match against those guys and do well against them, you got a good chance to do well on defense. They got one of the best quarterbacks of all time. I’m a big fan of him and hopefully he can continue his success”.

Hayward also voiced his support for Melvin Gordon, who has held out of training camp due to contract discrepancies with the team.

“That’s our brother. You don’t want to talk bad about anyone’s situation, everyone’s situation is different. How can I tell him to come, when he feels like he deserves this. For a brother like Melvin, he deserve what he wants to get. He’s worked hard and put himself in the position to get what he deserves. Overall, we worry about who’s here, and hopefully he can get his deal done and be back here to compete for a super bowl.”
