A cat invades the Reds-Pirates game Friday night at Great American Ballpark.

As sports fans, we have all seen the occasional hooligan run onto the field to get their 10 seconds of drunken fame. Friday’s game between the Reds and Pirates featured something a little furrier than usual. A small kitten runs right behind the batter just as Corey Dickerson hits a fly ball in the fourth inning. If you blink, you’ll miss it just like the TV crew did during the game. The cameras follow the ball to shallow left field as the play is made to end the inning.

Despite Jesse Winker making the easy play, he immediately points to foul territory. The camera quickly follows suit and the cat is jumping in and out of the crowd trying to escape. Leaping into the laps of some fans, the cat appeared to be looking for a safe place to exit. Once the little guy found a path, he darted up the aisle into the bowels of the stadium.

A great slow motion shot of the cat right as it crosses behind home plate gives us a great look at the feline suspect. If you have any information about the whereabouts of the trespasser, please contact the authorities. Running onto the playing field during a game is a criminal act, and the Reds are looking to close the case.

The Reds might also want to know about the cat so they could use it on the team. The kitten exhibited elite speed and agility to match outfielder Billy Hamilton and could use the spark at the top of the line-up. While the Reds have been playing better of late, they are hoping this could turn into a rally cat situation. In all seriousness, the cat is okay and it did not affect the game after this incident. However, the Reds went on to loss 12-1. I don’t think our furry friend is welcome back after that outcome.
