Los Angeles Lakers Josh Harts gives insight to Lakers win and leadership.

After ending a three-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Lakers are 22-19. In larger part, this win can be credited to shooting guard Josh Hart as he filled up the stat sheet. The second-year player accumulated 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assist and five steals. He also was a plus 16 in the plus or minus column.

Hart said he has been “frustrated” with his play recently and was not satisfied with the amount of energy he had been playing with. The former 30th pick said he changed his approach to the game; instead of worrying about touches and shots, he aimed to give the team a “boost.”

While he was making an impact on the floor from the offensive side, Hart was also tasked with defending Dallas’ most threatening weapon, the electrifying rookie Luka Doncic. Hart said he wanted to see the “dog” in Doncic by being physical and picking up the rookie full court. Doncic dropped 27 points, but it took 23 shots on 43 percent shooting.

While there is not that many veterans on the Mavericks, it is the opposite for LA. The Lakers added some veteran leadership midway through the season with the addition of Tyson Chandler and offseason pick up off JaVale Mcgee. Hart said these players add experience because of their knowledge and time in the NBA helps those who lack in those areas.
