Tom Thibodeau Reflects on Derrick Rose’s Career: “I Wouldn’t Be In My Position Today Without Him”
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau spoke to media on Derrick Rose’s impact on his NBA coaching career.
Thibodeau spoke on the evolution of Rose throughout his 12-year career in the NBA.
“Initially, he was 22 years old when we were first together in Chicago. To the point where he is today, and all the things he’s gone through. Knowing the type of person he is and the family that he’s from, and just seeing how much he’s grown as a parent, and how he is with kids. On and off the floor he’s in a really good place. He’s a consummate pro, whatever you ask him to do, the team has always been first for him from the beginning until now.”
In addition, Thibodeau spoke on his evolved relationship with Rose.
“Anytime you spend the amount of time that we’ve spent together, and to have all the experiences we’ve had. We’ve had some great highs, we’ve had some great lows. There’s just an appreciation for him. That’s one of the best parts about coaching as you get to know people over a long period of time, you appreciate all the things that they bring. We’ve had great trust in eachother, we’ve always been truthful with eachother, and I think that’s helped us build trust. Obviously with all the things he’s done on all the teams I’ve been with, I wouldn’t be in this position, today, without him”, he finished.
