Rudy Gay on Luka Doncic, Playing with DeMar DeRozan in Toronto, Dirk Nowitzki & Dwyane Wade
Rudy Gay and the San Antonio Spurs were recently in town to face the Dallas Mavericks. Before the game, Gay agreed to answer a couple of media questions before pregame warmups.
During Gay’s interview scrum, he discussed what it was like playing Luka Doncic for the first time.
“He is a dynamic player he can do so many different things. He can play as a point guard all the way down to small forward. He can move the ball and shoot it a well,” said Gay.
DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay were teammates when both played together in Toronto a couple of years ago. In the pregame interview, we asked Gay. How have the two of them have been able to strengthen their relationship this season more than years past?
“We are older now. We know the game a lot better, and I think that is the biggest thing. Before it was just straight friendship, but now he was progressed as a player, and I have too. A lot of things have changed since the last time we played together.”
Dirk Nowitzki hasn’t announced officially that this will be his last season, but the vibe in the air looks like it might be. We decided to ask Gay his thoughts about the first ballot future Hall of Famer.
“The Championship Year, Dirk Was unstoppable and on top of that people don’t realize that was a lockout year. The whole season was consolidated, and he found a way to get it done. He was great throughout the whole year and the playoffs as well, and subsequently, he got the team their first championship.”
Someone that has announced that this will be his last season is Dwyane Wade and we asked Gay to share a couple words about the future Hall of Famer.
“D Wade is D Wade he has always been a tough player and a tough player to guard and to play against a gamer, and finisher. He did everything both him and Dirk are all-time greats.
