Various Iowa football players spoke about their upcoming battle against Michigan for the Big 10 Championship. They shared their perspectives from each side of the ball.

To start, running back Tyler Goodson touched on how the running game will dictate the outcome. He understands Michigan boasts a strong front seven on defense. While he knows what they’re up against, he and his teammates are not backing down. The junior ball carrier believes Iowa is being underestimated. He will look to make an impact while playing with a chip on his shoulder.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Jestin Jacobs talked about the challenge ahead. The defender complimented Michigan’s stable of running backs. “Obviously they have a lot of good players.” said Jacobs. Blocking was an aspect of their team he found particularly strong. He knows he and his defensive running mates will have to show up to contain the opposition.

Lastly, place kicker Caleb Shudak shared his insight from the special teams. He thinks special teams is a strong point for the Iowa football program. Whether it be putting points on the board or setting up their defense by pinning the opposition deep, Caleb knows they play a huge role. He is excited for the experience and is happy to see all the hard work of the past 10 months come to fruition.

Although they are the underdog, don’t count Iowa out before the game even starts. They are preparing to win and will play at their best in order to achieve that goal.
